New trains for Schleswig-Holstein
Train manufacturer Alstom won the tender for the production, delivery, and maintenance of electric multiple units. A total of 42 Coradia Max trainsets will enter service in Schleswig-Holstein as scheduled on December 10, 2027.
More space, more comfort
The four-car electric trainsets consist of two double-deck and two single-deck cars. With 360 and 390 seats respectively, these vehicles offer plenty of space. Additional comfort includes fold-out tables, extra shelves for phones, enhanced mobile signal reception, and larger passenger information displays. Accessibility is ensured through level boarding and step-free multifunctional areas.

Innovative design
Special seating areas with innovative lighting and seating concept, including large bench seats without armrests, are available for groups and families. Throughout the train, lighting temperature automatically adjusts to the time of day.
RE7 connection to Denmark
The new trains will operate on the Kiel/Flensburg/Tinglev – Hamburg (RE7), Itzehoe – Hamburg (RB61), and Wrist – Hamburg (RB71) routes and, following electrification, also to Heide. For the first time, the RE7 will run internationally with a final stop in Tinglev in southern Denmark, offering connections to the Danish rail network.
