About ZUG.SH

The company Landesanstalt Schienenfahrzeuge Schleswig-Holstein – ZUG.SH – was founded in July 2024 to finance trains for the German federal state Schleswig-Holstein. As a public-law institution (AöR), it can take out loans on favourable terms and lease the acquired vehicles to railway operators in Schleswig-Holstein at affordable rates. ZUG.SH thus retains ownership of the trains, promoting competition in rail transport while saving financial resources.

    • Taking out loans from the European Investment Bank

    • Monitoring train construction progress
    • Ensuring vehicle quality in operation

  • Leasing

    • Leasing trains to railway operators
    • Repaying loans with rental income

  • Management

    • Close cooperation with NAH.SH and other partners
    • Asset and treasury management

Trains

Contract awarded to Alstom! The French train manufacturer will supply 42 modern trainsets for Schleswig-Holstein and will also be responsible for their maintenance – operations are scheduled to begin in December 2027.

Starting Dec 2027, the new trains will run on these lines:

Loan tenders

We are looking for reliable lenders interested in financing sustainable mobility and establishing a long-term business relationship with ZUG.SH.

The next scheduled loan tenders will likely take place in

September 2026 and March 2027.
